Project: Structural Repair of North River Bridge

Scope of Works:
• Structural Repair of girders for shear strength capacity

Project Description:
It was calculated that a series of eighteen AASHATO Type III girders were deficient by approximately 115 kN/m of Shear capacity. Conventional construction repair methods were not an option as the costs analysis found it not feasible.
Fibrwrap Installations provided a turn-key solution by installing the Fyfe Tyfo SEH-51A Composite system to provide the required additional shear strength to meet the demand.
Although down to one lane at times, the bridge remained in operation during the quick, cost effective FRP installation and allowed other trades to continue working on the deck replacement.  The Tyfo Fibrwrap installation was completed on schedule and helped expedite the project as this bridge was located on a busy section of the Trans Canada Highway leading into the city.
Fibrwrap Installations Ltd. completed the North River Bridge project in a cost-effective manner, ahead of schedule using superior Advanced Composite Systems as an alternate to conventional construction.
