Project: Remedial works for understrength columns

Scope of Works:
• Structural Strengthening of concrete columns with the application of Tyfo Fibrwrap Carbon FRP systems

Project Description:
During the construction of a building, with office and retail space, in the city of Accra in Ghana, Quality Control tests made apparent that several columns had lower concrete strength than it was originally specified.
Fibrwrap South Africa submitted a Technical Design-Proposal for restoring the concrete strength of the columns with the application of Tyfo Fibrwrap Carbon FRP systems, completely satisfying the Client’s requirements. All criteria were met, such as enhancement of concrete strength according to original design, negligible size increase of elements and increased ductility for a seismic event.
The works were carried out within schedule and budget and without disrupting the works schedule of the main contractor.
