Structural strengthening of “Le Palatino” building, Paris, France

Project: Strengthening of slabs and columns of an 18 storey building “Le Palatino”
Location: Paris, France
Client: EIFFAGE Construction
Contract Duration: 10 Weeks

Scope of Works:
• Structural Rehabilitation of new openings on slabs and section of slab
• Structural strengthening of Columns

Project Description:
Le Palatino is a high-rise building (18 floors) and is situated in the city of Paris.  A major refurbishment of the building is executed with the purpose of change of use from commercial to residential. The design requires the creation of about 30 new openings of various sizes to be created at each floor in order to allow for electrical, mechanical and ventilation networks to be installed and also to create new stairways. A conventional approach (Steel structure) was not really feasible as there were many issues (architectural, mechanical etc).
Fibrwrap France designed a solution with the application of Tyfo Carbon FRP system which met with the client requirements. Tyfo SCH-11UP and SCH-41 were applied at the bottom of the slab according to the design.
The project was completed in 10 weeks within the original time table and within budget. The client was satisfied by the fast, economical solution provided.
